Create a MySQL database and user in cPanel
Create a database, assign a separate user and grant the permissions needed by a website.
OXWritten by oXnames SupportChecked against the current Knox workflow
WHERE TO GO IN YOUR ACCOUNTcPanel > Databases > MySQL Databases
Get the right details ready
Select the correct hosting service and domain before opening cPanel. File, database, DNS and email changes can affect the live service immediately.
Security first. Never include account passwords, card details or authentication codes in a support ticket.
FOLLOW THESE STEPS
Make the change in Knox
Work through each step in order. Keep this guide open in another tab if that is easier.
- 1
Open MySQL Databases in cPanel.
- 2
Create the database and record its complete prefixed name.
- 3
Create a database user with a strong unique password.
- 4
Add the user to the database and select the required privileges.
- 5
Enter the database name, user, password and localhost in the application configuration.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Check that it worked
The database and database user appear in cPanel and the user has the privileges selected for that database.
IF IT DOES NOT LOOK RIGHT
Try this before contacting support
Creating a database does not automatically give an existing user access. Add the user to the database and grant only the privileges the application needs.
