Manage website files with cPanel File Manager
Upload, edit, move and protect website files without an FTP application.

WHERE TO GO IN YOUR ACCOUNTcPanel > Files > File Manager
Get the right details ready
Select the correct hosting service and domain before opening cPanel. File, database, DNS and email changes can affect the live service immediately.
Security first. Never include account passwords, card details or authentication codes in a support ticket.
FOLLOW THESE STEPS
Make the change in Knox
Work through each step in order. Keep this guide open in another tab if that is easier.
- 1
Open cPanel securely from the hosting service in Knox.
- 2
Choose File Manager and open public_html for the primary website.
- 3
Use Upload to add files, then confirm names and folder paths carefully.
- 4
Back up a file before editing it and avoid changing permissions unless required.
- 5
Empty File Manager trash only after confirming the website still works.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Check that it worked
File Manager opens the hosting account home directory and displays files permitted for that account.
IF IT DOES NOT LOOK RIGHT
Try this before contacting support
The public website normally lives in public_html. Avoid changing ownership, permissions or hidden configuration files unless a guide specifically requires it.
