Set up oXnames email on a phone or tablet
Choose the correct step-by-step guide for iPhone, iPad or Android and find the secure settings shared by every device.
Get the right details ready
Have the full mailbox address and its mailbox password ready. The password may be different from your Knox account password.
Security first. Never include account passwords, card details or authentication codes in a support ticket.
Make the change in Knox
Work through each step in order. Keep this guide open in another tab if that is easier.
- 1
Open the email service in Knox
Go to My services, select Email Hosting and open Connect your email. The assigned server shown there is the one your device must use.
- 2
Choose your device guide
Use the dedicated iPhone and iPad guide for Apple Mail, or the Android guide for the Gmail app. Both use IMAP so messages remain synchronised.
- 3
Use your complete mailbox address
The username is the entire address, including the part after @. The mailbox password can be changed from the Mailboxes tab in Knox.
- 4
Use secure ports only
Incoming mail uses IMAP port 993 with SSL/TLS. Outgoing mail uses SMTP port 587 with STARTTLS, or port 465 with SSL/TLS.
- 5
Test sending and receiving
Send a message to another address and reply to it before relying on the account for business email.
Check that it worked
The phone downloads the mailbox folders and can both send and receive a test message.
Try this before contacting support
Choose Other or IMAP rather than a Microsoft or Google account type, then enter the assigned mail server manually.
